WATCH: Maya Jama caught trying to explain Love Island to King Charles at Buckingham Palace

Maya Jama was caught trying to explain Love Island to King Charles at Buckingham Palace.
The TV presenter was among guests at a star-studded garden party at the royal residence, and took the opportunity to ask the British monarch if he watches the ITV dating show.
After being introduced to the King, Maya said: “I host Love Island. I don’t know if you’ve watched it? It’s a dating show…”

The King and Queen hosted a special Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this afternoon to celebrate the Creative Industries. @MayaJama met the King and said: “I host Love Island. I don’t know if you watch that though?”

King Charles then quipped: “There’s one born every minute!”
He went on to ask Maya about her future plans, and she replied: “I’m just about to go to Spain to film some young people snog someone.”
Other famous faces at the party included Louis Theroux, Sir Ridley Scott and Tracey Emin.
Love Island is set for a big change this summer, as ITV bosses are fighting to avoid “dwindling” ratings.

The hit dating show will return to our screens on Monday, June 3rd, with Maya Jama as host.
Now, the channel plans to launch the show across ITV1, ITV2 and as well as ITVX for the first time ever.
A source told The Sun: “ITV want to throw their weight behind Love Island and make sure it has a big, glitzy moment when the 11th series kicks off next month.”
“Showing it across every channel means creating what they hope will be a big TV moment. It shows there is still a real commitment to the format even nine years on.”

They continued: “Using the full might of ITV means reaching every demographic, including the crucial 16-34s.”
“A cynic would say it also means wringing every inch out of the rating potential to prop up the stats, which have been dwindling recently.”
The same schedule was used for Big Brother’s launch last October, and pulled in 2.5 million overnight viewers.
As the excitement from the 11th season of the show is building, the rumoured cast is starting to hit headlines.

On Wednesday, Ciaran Davies was the first contestant “confirmed” to appear on the series this summer.
The Welsh rugby player, who plays for Tondu RFC, is set to trade the rugby pitch for the iconic Majorcan villa next month.
A source told the UK Sun: “Ciaran caught the eye of Love Island bosses immediately.”
“He’s gorgeous with a fit athletic build that will send the girls in the villa wild, but he’s also a sweet boy next door from Wales to boot.”

“He’s the kind of lad you could happily take home to your mum.”
“He’s been in talks with bosses for weeks and is set to jet out to the villa in Majorca in the coming week or so.
“Right now, it’s unclear whether he is one of the OG line-up or a bombshell but he is a favourite with the casting team and is sure to make a big impression with viewers,” they added.
